Daisy-May is one of the youngest models to walk at the New York Fashion Week this year. Her super-power? She’s the first double-amputee model who walked an NYFW show!
Daisy-May Demetre is 9 years old and is from Birmingham, UK. She walked the ramp for Lulu Gigi Couture, France last week in NYC. Lulu et Gigi Couture specializes in luxury fashion designed for kids, inspired by traditional French styles.
Daisy-May is extremely proud of her latest achievement and her father adds how professional she was about the whole thing. Alex Demetre has encouraged her daughter to pursue her dreams always.
The Journey
This 9-year-old model had fibular hemimelia since birth. This is a very rare disease where a part or the whole of the fibular bone is not formed. Daisy-May had had both her legs amputated when she was only 18 months old. Since then she depends on prosthetic legs to move around.

When Alex asked his daughter if she was interested in being a supermodel, she promptly said yes!
Since then this little girl has come a long way. She has represented Nike, River Island, and many other English companies. She was in the headlines in April when this double-amputee model successfully pulled a cartwheel in the London kids fashion week catwalk.

Alex finds great inspiration in her daughter’s determination. Irrespective of her condition, Daisy-May always keeps moving. Be it singing, dancing, or modeling, Daisy-May is at it. And always with a beautiful smile.
Lulu et Gigi Couture has made this double-amputee model one of their brand ambassadors. Apparently, Daisy-May and E the designer hit it off from their first meeting. The designer believes that beauty is multifaceted and this is also reflected in the brand’s website. The brand celebrates diversity and inclusion, encouraging children to be their unique selves.
Daisy-May, the first double-amputee model, is all set to represent the brand again soon. This time her ramp at the Paris Fashion Week will be set atop the Eiffel Tower!
