58 Year old Simon Cowell may be despised by many, but he sure is equally loved by those who choose to see the good in him and it’s no surprise why.
Simon has so far donated £25,000 to Humane Society International which is a charity that addresses worldwide animal issues.
The HSI tweeted about Cowellon Friday, mentioning how his money has saved over 200 dogs and puppies from certain death – more specifically, from a South Korean dog meat farm.
The charity will be collecting the animals next week, dispersing them to various centers in the USA, UK, Netherlands and Canada who will assist with the rehabilitation and rehoming.
A mother dog and her puppies was posted alongside the tweet, showing the utter despair of these poor animals, spending their entire lives placed in metal cages, only released to be slaughtered in the most inhumane ways.
“Simon’s generous donation means the world to us, and provides a huge boost to our appeal to close this horrendous dog meat farm,” HSI UK Executive Director Claire Bass said in a statement. “More than 200 dogs are languishing in the most appalling conditions, but we have a real chance to save them. … These poor dogs have had the worst lives so far, so we’re desperate to get them out of those dreadful cages and show them love, soft beds and loving arms for the first time in their lives.”
Dog meat consumption is definitely on the decline in South Korea, but thousands of dog factory farms still exist up until this day, pumping out 2,5 million dogs bred solely for their meat each year. The HSI has reportedly already closed down 12 of the known 17,000 meat farms, saving over 1,400 animals.
The organisation does not only stop there – they are go as far as joining in with 83 other charities which are aiding in the fight by helping farmers develop more humane businesses such as mushroom or chili farming.

Their ultimate hope is South Korea eventually banning the practice altogether. “With every dog farm we close and every farmer we help switch to a more profitable, humane business, we’re showing the South Korean government that it’s possible to end this cruel trade,” Bass said.
Being a long standing member, Simon Cowell spoke out in 2017, announcing his support for their #EndDogMeat campaign, telling Good Morning Britain that eating a dog would be like “eating your friend.”
“It’s the fact you’re eating such a kind, helpless, sweet animal,” he said according to HSI, mentioning his pledge to save even more dogs, being so moved by the powerful cause.
As many know, Simon also owns two gorgeous Yorkshire Terriers, appearing on Britain’s Got Talent in 2017, attempting dog yoga.
Cowell unsurprisingly isn’t the only celebrity who has stepped up, with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump and CNN anchor Randi Kayealso speaking out passionately about the cause.
