We all naturally attract certain situations and relationships in life. It’s like they are magnetic, and we are gravitated towards them. There is patterns that become noticeable but not until they have shown up over a period of time.

We all have different lessons to learn in this life and therefore the kind of people we attract are the exact kind of people we need in order to help us on our path.

It is both a blessing and a curse!

Even though everything we go through is completely necessary, we still have to make sure we cleanse ourselves of toxic energy. In fact, the more in touch with ourselves we are, the more we need to do this. It’s because we are far more sensitive to these dark energies. You might notice the more empathetic you become, the more you attract people to you. Therefore, the more emotional baggage you carry with you.

I always considered myself a strong, together person and not at all sensitive. It’s only in the last 2 years I’ve realised that is a lie (at least the last part) I’m so sensitive. Probably more sensitive than anyone else I know actually, which seemed crazy to me. I always had this misconception that being sensitive meant you cry all the time, you can’t handle life on your own and you were weak. I think it’s a common misconception though.

I’d say I’m the strongest I’ve ever been emotionally. It’s only recently I’ve learned to embrace my emotional side and managed to see the real positive side to it. I’m super sensitive to my environment and always attract people who are really intense. I realised this is because I am really intense, and I also seek out emotional intensity in mostly every situation in my life. So the fact that I was so out of touch with this before, you can imagine, was detrimental to my spiritual and emotional awareness. Now, that I am, I am able to see it’s both my strength and my weakness.

I’ve researched the best ways to cleanse our spiritual energy – and there are so many ways to do it. Everyone is different and we all relate differently too. Some of us are more practical while others are a bit more imaginative.

Have a look at the list below and choose 3 you resonate with – then try them!

Sage

One of the best ways to cleanse energy is with regular smudging, a traditionally Native American practice of burning herbs and resins, which many healers use to offer blessings and purify people, places and objects. Although cedar, lavender and sweet grass are often used during smudging ceremonies for their ability to uplift, purify, and bring positivity into a space, the most common herb used is sage.

Essential oils

They can make you feel uplifted if you are feeling depleted and drained. You are constantly responding to the energy of your environment. Essential oils can help you clear that energy out and raise your vibrational frequency. Some of the best ones to use are; Rose, Sandalwood, Peppermint, Frankincense, Palo Santo and Lavender.

Meditation

“Meditation has been linked to a number of things that lead to increased ability to focus, memory … We’ve seen this at the level of the brain.” Greater concentration is related to the increased energy meditation provides. “It connects you with your real source of energy,”

Chakra healing

  1. The Root Chakra – “I am filled with humility. I am enough as I am.”
  2. The Sacral Chakra – “I am radiant, beautiful and strong and enjoy a healthy and passionate life”
  3. The Solar Plexus – “I accept myself completely. I accept that I have strengths and I accept that I have weaknesses.”
  4. The Heart Chakra – “Love is the answer to everything in life, and I give and receive love unconditionally”
  5. The Throat Chakra – “My thoughts are positive, and I always express myself truthfully and clearly”
  6. The Third Eye Chakra – “I am wise, and I understand the true meaning of life’s situations”
  7. The Crown Chakra –  “I am complete and one with the divine energy”

Practise forgiveness

The practice of forgiveness grows through generosity and repetition. Buddhist psychology offers specific teachings and practices for the development of forgiveness.  Like the practice of compassion, forgiveness does not ignore the truth of our suffering.  Forgiveness is not weak.  It demands courage and integrity.  Yet only forgiveness and love can bring about the peace we long for.  As the Indian sage Meher Baba explains, “True love is not for the faint-hearted.”

Keep a journal

Some of the most influential people in history kept detailed journals of their lives. Those journals served two purposes: a permanent record for posterity, and cathartic release for the people writing them. Even if you don’t think you need either, keeping a journal has great benefits you can enjoy immediately. Maybe you’re more practical, and want a way to harness your creativity. Maybe you just want the cathartic release that comes with regular writing. Whatever it is, these are all great reasons.

Be in nature

There has been lots of research done into the physical and mental benefits of being outside. Research from the University of Michigan, USA looked at the effect of nature on mental fatigue and stress. They found that being in nature helps us to relax, improves our memory, increases our attention spam, and improves cognition. How fantastic is that!?

Setting boundaries

When you decide which situations are comfortable and which ones are deal breakers, you learn more about your wants and needs and how you can take care of yourselves. You’re then able to make decisions with confidence and turn your energy towards those things that “give you life.”

See a therapist

Before you immediately dismiss the idea, consider this: verbalising feelings can make us less stressed and less alone. In other words, getting your worries out in the open (even the “insignificant” ones) — particularly with someone trained to help you manage them — is a good thing for your well-being.

Healing crystals

Traditional remedies, such as herbalism, homeopathy and crystal therapies, can be seen as natural alternatives for modern drugs. With more people recognising holistic and alternative medicine, many people are turning to crystals not only to help cure their ailments, and help their mental well-being.
