Four Sets of Identical Twins Staged a Time Travel Prank on an NYC Subway

Is time travel real? Could it be?

Obviously (or, at least, scientifically), it’s not.  Not in the conventional way that we think about it: human steps through a portal and ends up 20 years earlier.  Though, many scientific theories suggest time is not a linear thing and that it does work backward, as well as forward.  Some may even argue that looking at a video is peering through a portal into the past.

Regardless of our level of knowledge, science fiction writers and imagineers have conceptualized time travel as a very real and very possible thing.

These eight performance artists decided to take it to the next level and act out a time travel scenario.  Four sets of identical twins converged on a New York subway to play out an awkward and inspiring possibility.

The group, called Improv Everywhere, released a statement on the project.

“For our latest mission, we staged an elaborate time travel prank on a New York City subway car with four sets of identical twins. A man enters a subway car and announces he is raising money to complete his time machine. At the next stop, his future self enters to try to talk him out of it. More and more time travelers convene on the subway car as the train rolls along, surprising the random commuters caught up in the middle.”
