An airline passenger makes a request to switch seats but didn’t anticipate the response she receives.

A woman stops a flight attendant and asks to switch seats, refusing to “travel beside a negro.” Despite the economy class being completely booked, the flight attendant promises to speak to the captain and see what can be done. When the flight attendant returns to the disgruntled woman, she announces that there is a seat in first class available, as no passenger should “travel beside such a despicable person.” Little does the racist woman know, that seat is intended for the man about whom she had complained.

This video was produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). According to the UN, the UDHR was proclaimed on Dec. 10, 1948, as a collaborative effort by “representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world.” The groundbreaking document is the first to protect fundamental human rights, regardless of nationality.
