Every so often I come across someone that is just a little bit special and I feel the need to feature them on my website. One of those special people is Maggie Rogers.
Super cool and super successful musician and producer Pharrell Williams was recently asked to host a masterclass at The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He spoke to a few students and listened to their music and gave feedback but one student in particular stood head and shoulders above the rest and you can tell the impact she had on Pharrell just by looking at the reaction on his face whilst he is listening to her music for the first time.
Maggie explains how she grew up in rural America playing the banjo and being outdoors. She then spent time in France where she had a spiritual experience with dance music and has since not been able to stop making music. The combination of dance, folk and her own raw sound really combine in a unique way to create what can only be described as a beautiful and original sound. I am 100% sure Maggie will have a long, successful and true music career. She has certainly left a strong impact on me, Pharrell and I’m sure has many thousands of new fans already.
