Webb Weiman helps seniors achieve or experience what they hope to accomplish during their lifetime – to live the adventures on their bucket list. He found this new calling after a personal tragedy set him up on a different course in life. His mother died when he was 25, after battling cancer for a decade. It devastated Weiman’s father and the previously jovial and outgoing man withdrew into a shell. Weiman would come home to find his father in the dark, alone in his bedroom.

Weiman knew that it was time for him to act. He looked up his mother’s phonebook and set up a date for his father. It led to his marriage. He was alive again.

My Jump, Weiman’s non-profit has already helped 50 seniors fulfill their dreams by taking them on adventures. He tells seniors that each one should get to live the adventures on their bucket list. He has helped them achieve some amazing things.

The first participant went skydiving on her 90th birthday way back in 2011. From then on, it has been a journey of striking off items on the bucket list of many seniors across America. The seniors have participated in an awe-inspiring list of adventures. It includes driving a race car, parasailing, skydiving, and even flying across the Grand Canyon.

It is the twinkle in their eyes that inspires Weiman. The shine in their eyes could be the adrenaline-rush of jumping off an airplane or a blimp. It is satisfying that he has added even a little joy in the last leg of their life.

Weiman makes all the arrangements for the seniors and all they have to do is live the adventures on their bucket list. His group makes a film of each episode, called Jumpisodes, for seniors and their family members.

“Making memories” is the aim of this organization. The memory of having realized their lifelong desire will be a cherished treasure for them.

Speaking to Meghan Dunn of CNN, Weiman said that the toughest part of being a senior is the sense of isolation which creeps in unexpectedly with the death of a partner, or with children being preoccupied with their lives. This is where he tries to intervene and make them take out the bucket list and live their life again.

His endeavor jumpstarted when he took Estelle skydiving on her 90th birthday and took a video of the episode. Others viewed it and got interested. Next, it was a sweet, petite lady who wished to go race car driving. Two-weeks short of 92, the lady had her wish in a 550 HP race car sanctioned by NASCAR. She drove 11 laps, seated on three pillows just to peep over the dash. There was no looking back after that.

Weiman’s main purpose is to tell the seniors that there is always hope and a way to fulfill their dreams. He has been a witness to some really happy moments as the seniors finally got to live the adventures on their bucket list. He has seen quite a few seniors come back from darkness into light with that one bright incident in the twilight of their lives.

The notes of gratitude that he keeps getting are his most treasured possessions.
