Macro Photos of Water Droplets Reveal the Overlooked Beauty of Nature

The technique of macro photography offers an entirely new perspective on the world. Some of the tiniest, overlooked features are suddenly brought to life in the most majestic of ways.

Canadian photographer Don Komarechka explores the most overlooked of nature through a macro lens camera, revealing water droplets that look like miniature worlds.

“All of these images are like little sculptures,”

“Very temporary, and only become beautiful when seen from the right perspective.”

Each photograph shows the delicate water droplets dotted across flower stems and petals and through his experimental techniques, he reveals reflections of flowers in the surface of the droplets, leaving something that resembles a small snow globe.

“I’ve always considered the essence of good photography to be the combination of both art and science; the deep you wave that mesh, the more magical the results will be,” says Komarechka. “Water droplet refraction photography is the epitome of that statement.”

Quite often, he manages to capture insects in these shots, further showing the delicate nature of these droplets.

He says, “Photography comes in as a secondary element to document the tiny sculptures before the water evaporates and the magic is gone.”
