I am sure by now we are all very aware of the problem shelters face in terms of over crowding, there are far too many animals looking for a home, and so many of them remain in shelters year after year.
Recently, there has been a boom of individuals who are thinking out of the box to help get these unwanted animals some much needed attention, leading to many more adoptions.
The world is lacking in kindness and compassion, especially when it comes to the youth of today. So when we heard about this 12 year old from New Jersey who came up with an awesome inititive to help the dogs and cats who were looking for their forever homes, we had to share.
Even though he is only 12 years old, Darius Brown hand makes these adorable and stylish bowties for the cats and dogs of shelters, helping them gain much needed awareness and attention.
Darius himself has an inspiring story which makes his efforts in helping these animals even more impressive, At 2 years old he was diagnosed with speech, comprehension, and fine motor skills delay. He has not let this stop him reaching his goal. When he was 8 years old he began helping his sister by cutting the fabric for bows, in turn improving his fine motor skills.
By age 11, Darius started his company “Beaux & Paws” which makes beautiful and stylish bow ties for both humans and their animal best friends. As young as he may be, this impressive young man could teach us all a thing or two about running a successful business and paying it forward! He’s donated countless bow ties to various shelters and adoption in both the UK and US.
