There is a reason that dogs are labeled man’s best friend.
Loyal, cuddly and smart with an undying devotion to us, dogs are an integral part of the family and if you’re lucky enough to have one, you can surely agree that the day when we have to say goodbye to them must be the hardest ever.
This unknown pet owner was obviously very much still grieving the loss of their beloved when a thief broke into their apartment and stole their belongings, one being a camera with a memory card containing images of the late dog on it – her last day alive.
In a desperate bid to retrieve the photos, they posted a letter on a nearby lamppost begging the person to return the photos anonymously.

Taking place in Toronto Canada, the note went as far as to say that whoever’s guilty can keep all the belongings, but begs the victim to please return the precious memories of their dog.
It reads:
“To the man who was in my house and robbed me. Keep the cash, and my DSLR, and whatever else you took.
But if you have the memory card from the camera, please, it has photos of my dog’s last day alive on it.
I cannot replace those photos. Please throw it onto the porch or put it in the mail slot. Or mail it.
Please. She died a few days ago. I cannot lose those photos as well.”
The internet was just as touched by the writer’s words and have shared the letter, hoping that it somehow reaches the robber.
Including Facebook user Saoirse Morgan, who captioned the image:
“Photo taken at Bloor and Lansdowne. This is simply heartbreaking. I hope this person does the right thing.”
Her post received over 27,000 shares at the time of writing this with many offering support, growing in numbers by the second.
Now all we can do is hope that the criminal takes a turn of heart and returns the memory card, as we all know that losing a pet can essentially feel like losing a family member, because that is what we consider them to be. One can only imagine what this person may be going through, knowing those last memories may be gone forever.
If you’re reading this thief, please do the right thing.
