Most children love to draw and often they will draw from their imagination to create amazing creatures. Be they quirky, adorable, weird, cute or even scary, they often end up adorning the walls and fridge in the family home. Most eventually end up stored in box or sadly, ends up in the trash. Fortunately, that need no longer be the case, thanks to a caring brother who took children’s art to another level by creating plush toys for them to hug and cuddle with.
Alex Furmansky was inspired by his sister’s drawings and watching her tuck her stuffed animals in bed he wondered if he could create a ‘’forever friend’’ stuffed animal from her drawings. Alex secretly borrowed on of Michelle’s drawing of her favourite dog like creature called Dongler and created a plush toy in its likeness. Alex founded Budsies in 2013 and Dongler was its ‘’first born’’.
The company has grown in leaps and bounds since then. Initially, they created Budsies from children’s artwork and it soon evolved to creating characters in books for authors, sports team mascots including Petsies and Selfies based on photographs of pets and people.
