You Can Visit This Sanctuary Near Vancouver & Play With Wolves!

by Jade Small

This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I honestly can’t think of anything cooler than relaxing in the woods among one of the Pacific Northwests largest wolf packs! If you’re planning a trip to Vancuver this one’s a must for your bucket list.

Predators of the Heart Sanctuary has been around since 1998 and is a non profit organisation. The sanctuary is in Anacortes, WA on a 10 acre parcel that houses wolves, cougars, bobcats, birds of prey, many different species of reptiles and small mammals.

The sanctuary hopes to help its visitors develop caring and concern for the animals and to help people realize all nature is interconnected and that we can not survive with time apart from it. Many animals at the sanctuary  cannot be reintroduced to the wild and need a safe and healthy environment to live out the remainder of their lives.

You can book an exclusive two hour Wolf Encounter Experience at Predators of the Heart Sanctuary for $200 pp where, with a guide, you’ll first meet Kakoa and Max, the two wolf ambassadors at PHS.

You’ll also learn tons of interesting and important facts about wolves while interacting with them, there are no fences separating you from the wolves, making the experience all the more worth while!

Founder Dave Coleburn says:

“Our goal is to educate children about wildlife, not only to teach the facts about the animals, but to use an approach that leads to an appreciation, affection, compassion and respect for these living creatures – to make it clear that an animal’s value is not determined by its similarity or services to humans.”

If you are a local or staying for a while, you can even join their Volunteer program when space becomes available.
