Social media challenges have spiked in the past few years and they turned from reasonably ‘’innocent fun’’ to ridiculous and to downright disgusting and often dangerous – all in hope of the ‘’viral’’ tag and the instant gratification of ‘’likes and shares’’. You may recall seeing or hearing of the Kylie Jenner lip challenge, the condom challenge, the cinnamon powder challenge and the recent Birdbox challenge
On the other end of the scale, The ‘Trash Challenge’ or #trashtag has motivated people from across the globe clearing up beaches, parks and streets in their own communities.

The #trashtag concept has been around for years and started to pick up momentum again with participants posting their before and after pictures on social media.
Some serious cleanup operations show before and after pictures of wooded areas and beaches with trash collected into bin bags.
#trashtag seems to be trending and ‘’bored’’ teenagers in particular have been challenged to do their bit to save the environment and spread the word.
Here’s a small sample of enthusiastic #trashtag participants

Great idea to keep trash bags with you and just do your bit wherever you go. Every little bit helps.
