“We believe that children’s amazing invention ideas are a valuable contribution to the world. They shouldn’t just be stuck to a fridge door and forgotten.” – Little Inventors
London artist and designer Dominic Wilcox initiated the Little Inventors project in 2015. It is in collaboration with expert educationalists, designers, and curators. They take children’s invention ideas and turn them into a reality. Every child retains the copyright of their invention drawings.
Dominic is on a mission to inspire the world’s children to come up with their own extraordinary, ingenious, or just plain brilliantly bonkers creations. His aim is to inspire and support children around the world to use their wonderful imaginations to think up ingenious, fantastical, funny or perfectly practical invention ideas with no limits!

The organization works with schools, museums, hospitals and other child-focused organizations to run Little Inventors workshops. During the workshops, they first inspire the children by showing them interesting and fun invention ideas. Then they challenge them to think up and draw their ideas. Once drawn up they make an actual prototype using everyday materials. This teaches the Little ones how to be an inventor by guiding them through the steps of the process, from idea to reality.

It all began after Dominic was inspired to ask 450 children to think up their invention ideas. He took those ideas and passed them on to local makers and manufacturers to make the best ideas into real things. This was the launching point of his Little Inventors Project into an Organization.

From that moment on, the odd and absurd to the brilliantly clever ideas have been coming to life. His exhibitions have been a massive success gaining coverage from media such as CNN International and The Discovery Channel to name just a few.
To date, more than 7000 projects have been observed and realized with each child getting to sees his creativity rewarded. Not only is this project good for the child, but for the world as well because it challenges engineers to be innovative. Although, it does seem difficult to compete with the originality of the projects of these young inventors.
“I’ve convinced myself that within everything that surrounds us, there are hundreds of ideas and connections waiting to be found. We just need to look hard enough.” – Dominic
