Weatherman Faking Florence Storm Wind Busted By Casual Walkers

While reporting on conditions of Hurricane Florence, Mike Seidel from the Weather Channel appears to be fiercely fighting against the wind to stay standing, while two walkers casually stroll by in the background.

Viewers across the country noticed the strange occurrence and accused Seidel of attempting to dramatize his coverage to scare people and keep them glued to their televisions. This is a funny situation that shows how even the most innocent and seemingly well-meaning news content can be exaggerated. Unfortunately, this type of misinformation has real-life consequences when dealing with something as serious as natural disasters.

Florance is bringing enough serious danger to the east coast that there is no need for sensationalizing or exaggeration. When the advice of these reporters can’t be trusted, people have no place to turn to for guidance in situations like this and could make decisions that put their lives at risk.

After the clip went viral, The Weather Channel issued a statement defending Seidel, saying that:

“It’s important to note that the two individuals in the background are walking on concrete, and Mike Seidel is trying to maintain his footing on wet grass, after reporting on-air until 1:00 a.m. ET this morning and is undoubtedly exhausted,” it read.
