What Do Famous Conscious Minded People Eat?

Ok, so now that we’re awake, what should we eat? As a foodie, this question is something that I struggle with often. Mike Dooley, a spiritual author, who sends me awesome notes from the universe says that I can have it all, but my ganja yoga teacher tells me I shouldn’t eat meat or dairy, because they’ll block my pineal gland.

I often feel if the food I’m eating was treated with love and respect then all is well, but at the same time, I feel like some foods may restrict the potential of my 3rd eye…which makes it all very confusing.

What do other awakened people eat?

Russell Brand: VEGETARIAN/PRACTISING VEGAN– Russell goes back and forth between vegan and vegetarian. He has been vegetarian since he was 14, but like a lot of us, he has had a hard time sticking to a vegan diet. In January of 2015, he was still eating dairy, you can see him admit so in this Trews episode here. Though he’s having a tough time transitioning, he believes he’s moving in the right direction.

“If you have any concern at all about animal welfare, you’ve got to not eat meat. I’m thinking of becoming a vegan. Ugh its so hard though, isn’t it? It’s so hard to be a vegan. I’ve tried it before, but its sort of like being in a food prison.”-Russell Brand

Eckhart Tolle (Spiritual Teacher and Author): UNKNOWN–  Eckhart hasn’t really admitted to what he eats, however it is rumoured that he eats meat. When questioned about what to eat, he encourages people to “be present with whatever your food choices are so that the right food choice will happen within you.” He suggests that we eat consciously without having a secondary opinion judging what we eat. Eckhart also warns us to be weary that the food choices we make don’t stem from the ego, ie. a vegetarian could be egoistically identified with being a vegetarian, which could hinder one’s spiritual growth.

“Before ingesting any food, be still and feel how the body is responding to the food you are about to eat and you will know the answer.”-Eckhart Tolle

Jim Carrey: MEAT EATER– Jim admits to eating 38 hot dogs in one day for his film “Dumb and Dumberer.” In 2013, he raved about his new “blissful” diet that consisted of eggs, meat, fish, and veggies.

“Clarity! Contentment! Youthfulness! Longevity!”-Jim in reference to his diet in 2013

Gandhiji: VEGETARIAN– He considered food as energy and medicine needed to keep our bodies healthy. He also thought that we should only eat the minimum amount necessary and not for the sake of appeasing our taste buds. Alhough, Gandhiji was a strict vegetarian and vowed not to drink milk, he was compelled to add goat milk to his diet to recover from a serious ailment and he continued to later in life.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way animals are treated.”-Gandhiji

Alan Watts:  VEGETARIAN–  Alan believes biological existence is such that we have to kill to live, and vegetarians have no way out because plants are life-forms that are aware to a certain degree. He believes the only possible solution is to reverence food, cook it as well as possible, and enjoy it to the fullest. Watts also believes that when we die, we should be buried into the Earth so that other living beings, such as worms and insects can eat us in return; he describes this theory as “courteous.” You can hear more here.

“I am a vegetarian because cows scream louder than carrots.”-Alan Watts

The Dalai Lama: MEAT EATER– Though The Dalai Lama is a meat eater, he believes in the vegetarian diet. He managed to eat a vegetarian diet for 20 months in the 60s, but after he got ill, he returned to eating meat. These days, when he is in Dharamsala, he eats vegetarian and when he is on the road he eats meat. He believes we should respect all animals, including insects, though he admits his relationship with mosquitoes is not always healthy.

“A vegetarian diet is very, very helpful for our health, but I must say, I am not vegetarian.”-The Dalai Lama

John Lennon: MOSTLY VEGETARIAN– John wasn’t always a vegetarian but changed his diet in 1967 and remained a vegetarian for the remainder of the 1960s and throughout the 1970s, although he did occasionally go back to eating meat every once in awhile. When John and Yoko were interviewed in 1980 for Playboy magazine, the couple stated that they ate mostly macrobiotic, but every once in awhile, they would take the family out for a pizza.

“I don’t think animals were meant to be eaten and worn. We have enough resources to do without them. It’s common sense to me that you shouldn’t eat most of the chemically treated rubbish most people seem to stuff themselves with.” – John Lennon

Will Smith: MEAT EATER- Will’s wife, Jada is vegetarian, but there is no sign that Will has followed her lead.

George Carlin: MEAT EATER– George was indeed a meat eater and a funny one at that. However, he did not believe in the torture of animals and had quite a lot to say about it.

“I do not torture animals, and I do not support the torture of animals, such as that which goes on at rodeos: cowardly men in big hats abusing simple beasts in a fruitless search for manhood. And I think people have a lot of nerve locking up a tiger and charging four dollars to let a few thousand worthless humans shuffle past him every day. What a ****** thing to do. Humans must easily be the meanest species on Earth.”-George Carlin

Well, it seems as though its all a very individual choice. I’m thinking whatever we choose to eat, its important that we allow our bodies to make the decision. Gratitude for the food we eat, can’t hurt either Image may be NSFW.
