Netflix drama House of Cards will end with its upcoming sixth season, according to reports.
Production has begun on what will be the final season of the drama series, which is set to premiere in 2018, according to Variety.
Word of the series’ end comes in the wake of sexual assault allegations against its star, Kevin Spacey.
On Sunday in an interview with Buzzfeed, Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp claimed that Spacey had sexually assaulted him at a party in 1986 when he was 14.
Spacey later apologised to Rapp in a statement released hours after the interview was published in which he said he was “beyond horrified” by Rapp’s story, saying he did not recall the incident.
“As those closest to me know, in my life I have had relationships with both men and women,” Spacey said.
“I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.
“I want to deal with this openly and honestly and that starts with examining my own behaviour.”
MORE SPACEY ALLEGATIONS EMERGE
This is not the only allegation against the veteran actor. A former American TV anchor also accused Spacey of sexually inappropriate behaviour.
Heather Unruh tweeted that the American Beauty actor assaulted a loved one of hers.
“The #weinsteinscandal has emboldened me … I was a Kevin Spacey fan until he assaulted a loved one,” she wrote.
“Time the dominoes fell.”
Another woman, writer Nadine West, tweeted that her friend was groped by Spacey when he worked at a British theatre.
“KS [Kevin Spacey] groped my young male friend when they were both working at the Old Vic. Was apparently always known as one to avoid. Sadly unsurprised’.
Spacey is yet to comment on the latest allegations.
