Life can push us well past our limits, and when it does that it is perfectly normal to feel down in the dumps. If you have ever felt hopeless this article is for you.

When you are feeling down is the time when you need to be lifted up. You should never give in to the negative thoughts that flood your mind when you’re down. When we are down we must take a step back and relax, instead of forcing everything out all at once. Let all of your feelings come to the surface and address them as you need to.

From time to time we all feel broken, it is perfectly normal. These times should be accepted and we should learn from them. Remember, there are lessons in everything, especially the things that you are least expecting. Below you will find a list of things you need to remember when you are at your worst.

1. Remember that the ups and downs of life are only temporary.

There are tons of good and bad things in life. Just because you are sad now doesn’t mean you can’t be happy tomorrow. Everything is temporary, you will be happy again.

2. Remember to only do things that bring you joy.

It is important to do the things in life that make you happy! Stop doing all the things that you don’t want to do, and be true to yourself.

3. Remember to acknowledge your feelings without dwelling on them.

You can be aware of your problems without dwelling on them. Do not let the bad things take over your mind! You can and will get through this, all it takes is a little time.

4. Remember that nothing in life comes free.

Nothing in life ever comes free. We all must work hard to get where we want to be in life. If it is free then chances are it is too good to be true.

5. Remember your ‘why.’

You have a purpose, don’t forget it. Remember why you keep going; your ‘why’ matters.

6. Remember the world does not stop just because you feel bad.

The world doesn’t care if you’re feeling down, it will continue on as if nothing is happening. You don’t need to expect others to stop their whole lives just to comfort you. Sometimes finding comfort in yourself is all you can do.

7. Remember that you don’t have to go through this alone.

You are not alone! You have friends and family who can and will make you feel better or at least listen to your troubles. Why should you suffer alone if you do not have to? Let them help.

8. Remember to be nice to yourself.

These days people are too hard on themselves, nothing is ever good enough. You are important, and your life matters, never forget that!

9. Remember to remind yourself of all the good things to come.

You have a great life ahead of you. Remember your dreams and remind yourself that there is more for you to do. You can and will make the most of your life, all you have to do is try.

10. Remember to breathe.

Remember to stop for some air when you need it. If you need a few minutes to yourself to calm down take them. Breathe.
