Hated by many, loved, respected and feared by others, Michel de Nostredame, more commonly known as Nostradamus was a French physician, writer, and seer who published a collection of prophecies and warnings that have since become world popular.
In the year 1555, in France, Michel de Nostredame started writing a collection of ideas, strange-nearly indecipherable verses that to others made little sense. Now, hundreds of thousands of people around the globe claim that his ideas, put on paper in his book Les Propheties are in fact astonishing predictions of future events on Earth.
They claim that Nostradamus predicted—unlike any other seer or prophet—the world history until his death, and even beyond.
Written in 1955, “Les Propheties” in 1555 is a book that until this day is being published by companies around the world. The first edition contained 353 quatrains.
Despite the fact that many firmly believe in the prophecies made by the French physician/prophet, scholars believe that any associations made between Nostradamus’s quatrains and future events are largely the result of misinterpretations or mistranslations and are only confidential in nature. They claim there is no way of known what events will unfold in the future.
But despite the fact that Nostradamus has many critics who disagree with his work, the man has made some shocking predictions that have since 1555 become true.
One of the most interesting predictions made by Nostradamus is the Death of Henry II.
Nostradamus wrote:
“The young lion will overcome the older one,
On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,
Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death.”
Interestingly, in the summer of 1559, King Henry II lined up to joust Gabriel, comte de Montgomery. In the final pass, Montgomery’s tilted upwards and split into two shards—one went through the king’s visor impacting him in the eye, while the other one struck in his temple. The king suffered for more than a week after dying in his bed.
Nostradamus is said to have predicted the rise of Hitler
The prediction reads: “From the depths of the West of Europe,
A young child will be born of poor people,
He who by his tongue will seduce a great troop;
His fame will increase towards the realm of the East.”
Furthermore…
“Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers,
The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister.
Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn,
When the child of Germany observes nothing.”
As it turns out, Hitler was born to poor parents in 1889 in Europe. Thanks to his incredible oratory skills, he managed to mobilize the Nazi party in Germany. There are those who believe that Hister is a type, other say that Hister was also an ancient name for the Danube River.
The Atomic bomb
Nostradamus wrote…
“The heavenly dart with stretch its course
Death in the speaking: a great achievement
The proud nation brought low by the stone in the tree
Rumours of a monstrous human, bring purge, then expiation.”
Hiroshima and Nagasaki will forever be remembered. In 1945, the US dropped two atomic bombs on Japan, marking what many say was the end of the Second World War.
According to experts Nostradamus may have referred to “a stone in the tree” as the shape of the mushroom than engulfed the sky above the cities. However others argue that it could also make reference to a land-bound object.
Nostradamus foresaw the assassination of JFK. He wrote:
“The ancient task will be completed
From on high, evil will fall ont he great man
A dead innocent will be accused of the deed
The guilty on will remain in the mist.”
As it turns out, the bullet that killed President John Kennedy in 1963 undoubtedly came from a “high spot,” as experts concluded the bullet entered his head from roof-level.
The man who was accused of killing JFK—Lee Harvey Oswald—curiously didn’t live long enough to face trial. Oswald claimed he was innocent.
But perhaps one of his most shocking prediction was Sep. 11, 2001.
The French prophet wrote:
“The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city.
By fire, he will destroy their city,
A cold and cruel heart, blood will pour.
Mercy to none.”
One of the most terrifying terroristic attacks on earth occurred on the morning of September 11, 2001, when hijacked planes crashed into both of the towe4rs of the World Trade Center in New York City.
Experts interpreted Nostradamus’ reference to 45 as New York’s proximity to the 45th latitude.
Nostradamus also foresaw the Moon landing.
“He will come to travel to the corner of Luna,
Where he will be captured and put in a strange land,
The unripe fruits to be subject of great scandal,
Great blame, to one, great praise.”
Nostradamus’ quatrain: ‘He will come to travel to the corner of Luna,’ is a prediction of the Apollo 11 mission which led by Neil Armstrong landed mankind on the moon in 1969. Luna makes reference to the moon.
