Interdisciplinary artist, Lisa Park, has taken art to an entirely different level. In her exhibits, “Eunoia” and “Eunoia II,” she uses the power of her mind to manipulate motions of water to create tranquil vibrations. The results of the water formations are a direct reflection of her various states of consciousness.  Lisa’s intention is to visually and audibly mirror her inner states into visible forms; her performances are a reflection of real-time emotional reactions.

In order for Lisa to create this unique form of art, an electroencephalography (EEG) sensor is worn by the artist. The EEG has the capability to transmit Lisa’s brainwaves (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Theta), which are then sent to processing, to generate sounds using the Reaktor software program. The noises Lisa generates are played through the speakers that the bowls of water rest upon. The sound emitted allows the water to flow in unison with the various states of consciousness her mind conveys.

Eunoia features 5 dishes to represent the five root emotions (happiness, anger, sadness, hatred and desire), and Eunoia II features a remarkable, 48 symmetrical dishes to symbolize Baruch Spinoza’s definition of the 48 different emotions.

Lisa’s exhibits are quite compelling, and do not solely consist of the manipulation of water.  You can see variations of her work here.
